The SERCEB Response to an Emergency in Infectious Diseases or Bioterrorism

In the event of an outbreak related to emerging infectious diseases or an act of bioterrorism, SERCEB leadership, scientists, and Cores will be available to local, regional, and national government officials as needed.

SERCEB is prepared to provide:

  • Communications pathways for the exchange of information, expertise and laboratory support between SERCEB and local, state and federal agencies;
  • Information to public health officials and interested scientists concerning SERCEB research of Category A-C agents; and
  • Laboratory facilities and expertise in the event of a biodefense emergency.

Public or media inquiries may be directed to Elaine Fitzsimons, SERCEB Associate Director, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

In the event of an emergency, SERCEB investigators should contact the SERCEB Steering Committee Member at their respective institution.
