Overall Aims and Objectives of SERCEB Scientific Cores
The scientific programs of SERCEB are focused on key determinants of the biology, pathogenesis and immune responses to select agents in order to establish new approaches and create new products for the treatment, prevention and detection of emerging infection and known or potential agents of bioterrorism.
The SERCEB scientific cores have been created to fulfill two Core General Aims: First, to provide "traditional" core support for proposed scientific programs in year 1; Second, to complete the translational pipeline for development of products. These Aims will be achieved through the following objectives of the cores:
- Provide scientific and development resources for investigators of SERCEB in select agent biology, pathogenesis, immune response, vaccines and therapeutics, and detection.
- Establish resources for translational pipelines for deliverables from Research Programs.
- Develop new platform technologies for application to SERCEB scientific programs.
- Create products for development in translational pipelines to products.
