Science and Safety Training Courses

James Hughes

Emory University

SERCEB’s collaboration with the Center for Public Health Preparedness and Research (CPHPR) has led to the development of a comprehensive education and training program in BSL4, ABSL4, BSL3, and ABSL3 laboratory safety practices conducted in a mock BSL3/4 laboratory at Emory University.

Since January 2004, the SERCEB Science and Safety Training program at Emory University has offered courses for individuals planning on or currently working in high-containment laboratories as well as biosafety professionals. To date, 126 individuals have successfully completed the BSL3 course and 33 individuals have successfully completed the BSL4 course. Over 300 individuals, primarily public safety professionals, have successfully completed the ALERT (Applied Laboratory Emergency Response Training) at the Emory University Training Center.

Please check the Emory University Science and Safety Training site for information on current offerings.
