Intellectual Property Issues in Biological Research

The issues of intellectual property (IP), including patents and copyrights, are complex and often misunderstood by new investigators. Research institutions and universities often must find a balance between encouraging investigators to publish research discoveries while protecting IP rights for the individual and the institution.

The Intellectual Property Issues in Biological Research training module is a work of the Policy, Ethics and Law Core, formerly funded by SERCEB. All investigators new to SERCEB as well as any other interested individuals are invited to take the training module. An assessment at the end of the module will help shape and inform future versions of this training. All responses are anonymous and voluntary. A certificate of completion is available for interested participants.
